Pent Valley Leisure Centre was designed to provide accessible sporting facilities for all users. The Centre, which opened in 2005, was funded by the Big Lottery and is a dual use facility for both the general public and Pent Valley Technology College.

Pent Valley Leisure Centre is one of only 400 sites that are accredited by the Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI).At the end of 2008, Pent Valley Leisure Centre gained two awards at the first IFI Awards ceremony, first for 'Creating Inclusive Environments' recognising both the design of the facility and the ongoing commitment of the staff to break down barriers to participation. The second award was ‘Outstanding Achievement’ the highest Award given by the IFI, which held up Pent Valley Leisure Centre as the benchmark for all inclusive sites in the UK.

In 2009 Pent Valley Leisure Centre was also awarded the Fitness Industry Association (FIA) FLAME Award 2009 in the category of Educational Club of the Year. These awards recognise our high level of enthusiasm, professionalism and commitment to inclusive sport.

Pent Valley Leisure Centre has also been selected as a pre-games training camp for the London 2012 Paralympics, offering use of the facilities to paralympians training in Wheelchair Basketball, Sitting Volleyball, Boccia, Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Fencing.
